PlantLog Features
Define & Organize Data
Custom Group Organization
Completely customize list of groups that will organize the systems based on a logical layout of the facility. Add up to three levels of sub groups for finer granularity of layout organization.
Custom Selection Items
Completely customize lists of selection inputs that can be assigned to a Selection Item. For example, a selection input could be created that presents the mobile user to choose either “Pass” or “Fail” when performing some kind of test. Furthermore, the “Fail” option could be designated as an exception.
Custom Units
Completely customize a list of units that can be assigned to a numeric input.
Custom Journal Entry Types
Completely customize a list of journal entry types that can be assigned to a journal record when entered using the PlantLog Desktop component.
Set Barcode Mandatory
Designate a group to be “Barcode Mandatory”, which forces users of the mobile devices to scan the barcode ID tag on the system before they can collect any data against it.
Details Text
All data objects (Groups, Systems, and Items) can have additional descriptive text assigned to them. This can be used for conveying special information to the user of the mobile device such as equipment repair vendors, serial numbers, procedures, etc.
Unique Barcode Tracking
Assign a barcode ID to a system to uniquely identify it within a facility. Users of the mobile devices would then scan the tag located on the system to collect data against it.
Inactive Systems
Set any system to “inactive”, which will remove that system from the mobile device. Useful when an asset is down for maintenance and thus no data can be collected against it.
Absolute Numeric Range
Assign an absolute minimum and maximum value to any numeric input item.
Optimal Numeric Range
Assign an optimal minimum and optimal maximum value to any numeric input item. Data collected outside of the optimal range will be regarded as an exception.
Custom Ordering
Customize the ordering of all Groups, Systems, and Items to reflect any logical layout. For example, groups can be ordered based on their relative location to one another. Systems can be ordered in a way that reflects the route.

Scheduling
Assign Recurring Schedule
Assign a recurring schedule to any system which indicates how often the system should have field data collection performed.
Recurrence Calculations
Specify whether recurring schedules should be calculated based on the last record created for the system or calculated by specified interval from a predefined date.Schedule Overview Report
Schedule Overview Report lists upcoming scheduled systems as well as overdue systems.end faq
User Management
Component Level Permissions
Specify which software component each user is permitted to access.
Mandatory Login
All components of PlantLog require a user to login and to have appropriate permission level to use the component.
Per User Record Tracking
Each inspection record created for a system is tracked on an individual basis. i.e., mobile devices will track who inspected a system based on the user currently logged in. Additional users can inspect the same system with the same mobile device.
Journal Tracking
Each journal entry will indicate the user who created the record along with the creation date and time.Activity Tracking
User Activity Report chronologically lists all records and edits by a given user within a specified date range.endfaq
Reporting
Full Report Suite
Full set of trending and analytical reports and charts designed for facility engineering.Per Report Options
Each report can be modified by the user through a set of report specific options.View Zoom
Report view can be zoomed in and out.Memorize Reports
Ability to memorize report and chart options to quickly recreate them at a later date. Memorized reports will always update the data automatically.Export to PDF
Reports can be exported to a standard Adobe PDF document.end faq
Data Exporting
Export by System
Export all historical data associated with an asset or activity.Export Entire Group
Automatically export all systems within a given group. This will add each system as a separate worksheet in Microsoft Excel.Filter by Date Range
Filter exported data based on a predefined date ranged (e.g. Last 30 Days, Last 90 Days, etc.) or by a specific date range.Append to Excel File
Option to append a data export to an existing Excel file. This will add the newly exported system data to a new worksheet in the Excel file.Custom Export Layout
Various fields and their formatting can be conditionally included or excluded during an export to Excel. These include:
- Show/Hide record notes.
- Show/Hide Unit designation in column header
- Show/Hide User names
- Show Exception values in red
end faq
Data Editing
Item Edits
Users that belong to the Admin permission group are able to edit values in records created by other users. Validation is still maintained to ensure new value still adheres to the parameters defined for the edited item.Journal Edit
Users that belong to the Admin permission group are able to edit journal records created by other users. Edits can include re-assignment of the record to a different group, alteration of the date and time listed for the record and to the body of the journal text.Paper Trail
All records that had values edited will show the red marker icon in the data view to indicate a previous edit was made. Change Log Dialog will list what item was edited, when, by who and the previous value prior to the edit.end faq
Field Data Collection
Barcode Scanning
Barcode scanner support for automatic identification of systems. PlantLog standard barcode tags use encryption technology to safeguard against false duplication.
Additional Notes
Ability for users to optionally enter in notes describing special conditions. Notes can be applied when creating an inspection record for a system.
Sort by Completion Status
Ability to sort systems by completion status. Tab based screen allows user to filter by “Done” “To Do” and “All” categories. Completed systems also show the exact time the data was collected.
View Scheduled Systems
Ability to quickly view scheduled systems which will list all that are currently due or past due for inspection.
View Previous Record Values
Record history feature that remembers the last recorded value for each item to increase data input speed and to alert field engineer of changes in system conditions.
View Previous Notes
Previous 6 notes that were recorded for a system can be viewed by the end user and optionally selected to be used as the current note to save on data input.
Validation of Absolute Ranges
Numeric input screens to only allow for entry of values that fall within a predefined minimum and maximum threshold.
Exception Value Alerts
Exception value alerts to inform user when a reading was taken outside of normal parameters.
Completeness Validation
Behavior to ensure that all items are taken before user can finalize an inspection.
Inactive System
Ability for user to temporarily set a system to “inactive” to signify that data cannot currently be collected against it .
Inactive Item
Ability for user to set a item to “inactive” to signify that a value cannot currently be collected against it.
Duplication Alert
Automatic alert to inform user when a system inspection was already taken and give option to either cancel out or to retake the inspection.
end faq
Barcoding
Automatic System Identification
Users begin entering data for a given system by scanning the assigned barcode label.Direct Item Scanning
Optional feature to allow users to directly scan individual items within a system for input of meter reading or inspection observation.Multiple Systems Per Barcode
Ability to assign multiple systems to a single barcode. This feature will present the user with a list of systems assigned to the scanned barcode label and allow them to select which one to enter data for. Useful for selecting between a routine inspection and preventive maintenance activity.Encrypted Barcode Values
The PlantLog standard barcode tags use encrypted technology to safeguard against false duplication. The purpose of this is to ensure that users are in front of a given piece of equipment or area when field data collection is being performed.end faq
Journaling
Manually Set Date & Time
Ability to manually designate a date and time to represent when the entry described in a journal record occurred. Useful for events that may have occurred in the past since users needed to tend to the situation prior to making a journal record about it.
Group Assignment
Each journal record can be assigned to any predefined group within the software for granular organization.Journal Types
Each journal entry can be assigned a type category predefined by an administrator. These categories can classify the type of entry the record represents.Keyword Searches
Journal entries can be searched based on keywords or phrases to identify similar type entries.Export to Excel
